Some thoughts on design
I think the role of the creative director is to help brands make good decisions. This job is more about problem solving than anything else. I think design should aspire to permanence but accept it's own disposability. Design is not a place for certainty. It is a place for good decisions, nothing more.
Helping brands make those good designs is what I try to do everyday. The circumstances of every assignment are unique but the approach is always the same. Do what you know to be right. Even if you're not sure it will work. Remember, this is no place for certainty. Does it feel right... find the 'yes' and move on to the next one. That's all there is to it.
In 2014, the FX cable network launched it's very own video on-demand app for iOS, Xbox, Roku and the web. Fans can now catch up on their favorite shows like Sons of Anarchy and American Horror Story as well as watch dozens of blockbuster movies anywhere, using their favorite device.

The League: Trashtalk App
The FX Network comedy 'The League' is full of fun character quotes. This soundboard app lets fans play clips of their favorite characters cutting eachother down with dark, witty and ultimately affectionate quips. There's even an easter egg feature that allows Rafi (Jason Mantzoukas) to invade the screen and verbally destroy anyone in his path.

Dell XPS 13 Launch
To mark Dell's entrance into the "ultrabook" category of laptop devices, the site concept was to show how a nascent collection of carbon elements becomes into a fully formed machine. This involved 3D asset creation to literally "assemble" the product as the user scrolled through the site. Designed and coded in just 5 weeks, the work was honored by The FWA and the Webby Awards.
As the most highly-recommended bed in America, Tempur-Pedic needed a partner who could develop and amplify their premium brand message across a wide range of digital media. As the creative lead on this digital agency of record account (DAOR), I designed the pitch creative, helped win the business and now lead the ongoing creation of rich display ads, partnership programs and lead generation tools.
For a few years in the mid 2000s, Guitar Hero was a huge franchise in the console gaming world. I had the chance to design several of their sites including properties for Metallica, GuitarHero.com and Band Hero. I also worked on the design of the actual guitar controller that shipped with Guitar Hero 5.
Designing the website for an agency that 'designs websites' is no small task. I was asked to completely re-imagine the user experience and visual design for BLITZ, a successful mid-sized digital agency in Santa Monica, CA. We took an approach that made the experience of using the site exemplary of the agency's approach to digital design: intuitive, immersive and delightful. The 9-month project involved a deep dive into interaction design, UI design, infographics, writing, original photography and the production of several videos covering agency process and creative differentiation.
